::Douglas XA 4D skyhawk::
People used to amaze watching flying objects such as airplane, jet and even helicopters. But do they know what makes an airplane fly? For instance, The Skyhawk was designed by Douglas Aircraft's Ed Heinemann in response to a U.S. Navy call for a jet-powered attack aircraft to replace the older A-1 Skyraider. Let’s compare Douglas XA 4D skyhawk and A-4SU skyhawk which are two different types of jet.
Douglas XA 4D skyhawk and A-4SU skyhawk have several similiarities and differences. The same similarities is that it is from the same model of sky fighters that is the’ skyhawk’. Both skyhawk are unique as they have only one cockpit which means it carries only one person. In addition, they also have single turbo jet at the back of the jet to supply power in order to power up the sky hawk. Furthermore, both jet fighters are equipped with a deadly weapon that is Colt MK 12 Cannon. Both jet fighters are equipped with up rated J52-P-408 engine similar to the configuration used by the Blue Angels jet. Indirectly, it has certainly made the skyhawk as among the fastest sky fighters on earth!
The differences between the Douglas XA 4D skyhawk and A-4SU skyhawk are different models of skyhawk. Moreover, the tail of Douglas XA 4D skyhawk is the cruciform design compared to A-4SU skyhawk that uses T-tail design. The cruciform design used by Douglas XA 4D is the horizontal stabilizer mounted above the fuselage compared to A-4SU T-tail design that is well designed to stabilize the horizontal and vertical parts. Also, the Douglas XA 4D was designed with a low mounted delta wing and had a compact wing that it doesn’t need to be folded for a carrier stowage while the A-4SU skyhawk was designed specially with folded wings. The wing structure of the A-4SU skyhawk with the same overall strength and the absence of a wing folding mechanism will further reduced the weight. Apart from that, A-4SU skyhawk was made exclusively for the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) compared to Douglas XA 4D which is made for the Americans Air Force.
